System Architect to Paliscope

At Paliscope, we develop advanced investigative software used by law enforcement, intelligence analysts, and investigators worldwide. Our products help professionals analyze complex multi-source data, uncover hidden connections, and solve cases faster. Today we develop three products: Paliscope Build, Explore, and Find: each with its own architectural foundations and technical challenges. As we grow, we want to strengthen our ability to evolve these systems thoughtfully: improving scalability and performance, adopting new technologies where they create real value, and exploring how emerging capabilities such as AI can enhance both our products and the way we build them.

We are now looking for a System Architect who will work closely with our CTO and engineering teams to guide the technical evolution of our products. This role sits in the CTO Office where you will play an instrumental role and combine architectural thinking, technical exploration, and close collaboration with engineering teams. You will help ensure that our technology continues to evolve in the right direction – balancing long-term architectural thinking with curiosity, experimentation, and practical engineering.

What you will do

As System Architect you will work across our products and engineering teams to help guide how our systems evolve technically over time. You will collaborate closely with the CTO and engineering teams to evaluate architectural decisions, explore new technologies, and support teams in solving complex technical challenges. Your work will combine strategic thinking with hands-on technical exploration.

In this role you will contribute to:

• Guiding the technical evolution of Paliscope’s products and their underlying architectures
• Supporting engineering teams in architectural discussions and complex technical decisions
• Exploring how emerging technologies, including AI and automation, can strengthen both our products and engineering practices
• Evaluating architectural trade-offs across products and identifying opportunities for shared approaches where they create real leverage
• Experimenting with new technologies, tools, and development approaches, including building proof-of-concepts when exploring new ideas
• Helping improve how we design, build, deploy, and operate our software

You report to the CTO and are part of the CTO Office. You will work from our office in central Gothenburg together with engineers and colleagues with backgrounds in law enforcement, intelligence, and data analysis.

What we are looking for

The software industry is currently undergoing one of the most significant shifts in decades. AI-assisted development and rapidly evolving tooling are changing how software is designed, implemented, and maintained. In this role you will help Paliscope explore what that means in practice - how our architecture should evolve when development becomes increasingly AI-supported, how existing systems continue to develop alongside these capabilities, and when more fundamental redesigns may be necessary. Therefore, we hope you:

• Are a technically curious person who enjoys understanding complex systems and how they evolve over time.
• Enjoy discussing technical ideas with engineers, challenging assumptions, and exploring how new technologies can improve both development speed and product quality.
• Are comfortable discussing architecture and long-term technical direction, but you are also interested in experimentation and learning.

We believe your background includes:

• Extensive experience in software development, 10+ years and several years working with system architecture or technical leadership
• Strong programming skills and experience with modern technology stacks
• Experience designing scalable, reliable, and secure systems
• Working with on-prem solutions
• Experience with modern architectures such as distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven systems
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure environments and DevOps practices
• Speaking Swedish since that is the language spoken in the office
